History of Sinop

Sinop is a city which was founded in the north part of Turkey.Samsun, Çorum, Kastomu are its neighbours.

It has a castle and a  harbour, and throughout history, it didn't go out of its harbour and its castle.Although its harbor isn't appropriate, as Black Sea is too wavy, in

ancient times people used it.In the course of time, this harbor is bunged up with the sand, and it became

unavailable. In the time of Seljuks this harbor was closed.

This peninsula'a another harbour in the south part was the most important harbour of Black Sea Region, as its

sea was waveless. For thes feature it was called Mediterranean Harbor.Throughout history, the city lived running

economical services thanks to this harbour. Its bulwarks was there from some years ago, but today we can only

see some of them. These days , people began to understand its importance, and  they tried to restore them.

From the Ancient Age, it was  commercially and culturally busy city.Sinop carried on these features in

times of Byzantines, Seljuks, Candaroğlu, and Ottomans. It was one of the important military base of our country.

After Sinop Descant, the city  began to loose its importance, and it went out of its castle.Today it  is worth to see it,

as it has a lot of historical places, and naturel beauties.
