ECONOMY OF BURSA: 

 

Bursa is the fifth developed province of Turkey in terms of economy. The economy is depend on agriculture, industry, tourism and trade. Bursa is also rich in mines.

Agriculture:  60% of the active population is engaged with agriculture. Bursa has fruitful fields. 44% of the territory is arable fields. Main products are cereals such as wheat, barley, rice, maize and oat. 80% of strawberry and 40% of peach is grown in Bursa. Olive of Gemlik, Mudanya and Osmangazi is very famous. Most fruitful chestnut fields of world is in Bursa.

Livestock: Livestock is very advanced in Bursa. Chiefly, sheep and goat are feeded. Bursa has 32.000 beehives and delicious honey.

Forestry: 44% of the territory is forest in Bursa. Foersts haave various kinds of trees.

Industry: Bursa is one of the main industrial centers of Turkey. Renault and TOFAS have factories in Bursa. 32 of the Turkey's biggest factories are in Bursa. The number of the factories which are about automotive supplier industry and textile is very much.

Mining: Bursa is also rich in terms of mines. Volfram used in space and weapon industries is extracted in Uludag. apart from this, lignite, zinc, marble and meerschaum are available in Bursa.

HISTORICAL PLACES IN BURSA

 

 

THE GREEN MOSQUE

The green multifaceted in Bursa  includes a mosque, madrassa (Theology school), bath house, soup kitchen, and the tomb of Sultan Mehmet I.

This large complex was built by the architect Vezir Haci Ivaz Pasha by order of C. Sultan Mehmet (the son of Sultan Bayezit I), from 1419 to 1424. It commends the hillside terrace above the city and the Green Mosque takes its name from the colour of the unique green and blue tiles in the interior parts.

Although the building is known to be built in 1419, the final decorations were finished in 1424 on the order of Sultan Murad II, and the two minarets were added in the 19th century.

The most noticeable characteristic on the interior part is the extensive use of polychrome glazed tiles. Until the 17th century, the outer surface of the domes were covered in green tiles which gives the mosque its name. The tiles carries a variety of patterns including flowers, calligraphic inscriptions, and geometric interlace, as well as motifs. The importance of the Green Mosque rests mainly on the high quality of its tiles, stonework, painted decorations, and plasterwork. The tile work displays a perfection that had been never seen before in Ottoman art.

IZNIK

 

Iznik is 86 km off in the northeast of Bursa and is near to the lake which has the same name.The county has protected its plan since the time it was established in the Antiquity.

Iznik is one of the most important historical places not only of Bursa but all Aegean.Lots of historical remnants beloinging to Roman, Byzantium and early Ottoman times still stoods in the county.Iznık was place to lots of events of Christian world.In the Senato Palace,  I. Concile in 325 and in the Iznik Hagia Sofia Church 7.Concile meetings took place.The county became a part of Ottoman in 1331 and lived its most famous times in between the XIV and XVI centuries with its art of tile-making.Today whole world museums represent Iznik tiles as the most precious pieces.

In Iznik,there are city walls remaining from Roman times and monumental Lefke and Istanbul Gates and Theatre, Monument of Bestas,Hagia Sofia belonging to Byzantium times and other church remnants and The Green Mosque leftover from Ottoman Empire.

 

 

The GRAND MOSQUE

It is a grand mosque that can be seen from all the parts of Bursa.Yıldırım Beyazid had it made.It has two minaret and twenty domes and has a big fountain in the middle.Its pulpit is made of walnut tree.Its walls are covered with Islamic letters from end to end.

 

MURADIYE CEMETERY 

It is the last cemetery made by Ottoman Sultans in Bursa.It was made by the order of Sultan the 2th Murat in between 1425-1426 and it gave its name to the neighborhood.

 

  BURSA ARHEOLOGICAL MUSEUM

It is a museum in which remnants of Bythia and Mysia , Byzantium Era are represented and it has served since the 1972.It is located in the Resat Oyal Culture Park.25 bilion monuments are placed in the museum but only of 2 billion are in exhibition.

 

 

 

                                                                 CLIMATE OF BURSA

     Bursa has a temperate climate but it may differ according to the different parts of the city. In the north part, the climate is temperate due to Marmara Sea, while it is hars in the south under the effect of Uludag. The temperature of Bursa is between +42,6°C and -25,7°C. Approximately 113 days a year Bursa is rainy.

                         NATURAL BEAUTIES OF BURSA

lakes:

İznik: It is the 5th biggest lake in Turkey. Located at the east of Gemlik Bay, it’s a lake with fresh water and surrounded by fruit and vegetable gardens.

 

 

 

waterfalls:

It has two waterfalls, Aras and Suuçtu. Suuçtu Waterfall is in a 18 km distance from Mustafakemalpaşa City and provides the city’s water demand. It falls from a 38 m – altitude.

 

caves:

Ayvaini: The cave is in the Ayva village. The environment this cave is located has a natural beauity so the place is appropriate for tourism.

Oylat: This 665 metre-long cave consists of two main parts. The first part is a narrow entrance and the other one is a big hall with interestingly beautiful stalactites and stalagmites.

 

beaches:

 The natural beaches in Bursa are Kurşunlu, Bayramdere, Mesudiye, Eğerce and Esence beaches. There are also nice beaches along the coasts of İznik and Ulubat lakes.
